What is mainnet? What is tesnnet? Have you been ever confused about these terms? Despite the fact that these terms are frequently used in blockchain, users may connect to the incorrect network while using a crypto wallet. Therefore, this post will help you understand what mainnet and testnet are and how they work in Oxalus Wallet.
According to Binance Academy, mainnet and testnet meaning:
Mainnet is the term used to describe when a blockchain protocol is fully developed and deployed, meaning that cryptocurrency transactions are being broadcasted, verified, and recorded on a distributed ledger technology (blockchain).
Mainnet is the real blockchain network used for “actual” transactions with “monetary value”. With Oxalus, your wallet is set to Mainnet by default.
Testnet describes a blockchain network that is not yet operational to its full capacity, in contrast to Mainnet. Before confirming the system is secure and ready for the mainnet launch, programmers and developers test and troubleshoot all the components and functions of a blockchain network on a testnet.
Coins used on the testnet are distinct from real coins; they have no intrinsic value and cannot be used to complete transactions. The testnet and mainnet are not compatible. This implies that neither the testnet nor the mainnet can support the use of real currency.
You can easily switch to testnet with these simple steps below.
Step 1: Go to the “Account” Tab
Step 2: Tap “Testnet” or “Mainnet”. And done, immediately you switch to the network you need
When you are using Testnet, there will be a yellow bar at the top of the navigation bar when you are in navigating the screen. On the home screen, you can see it at the top left.
